indication The medicine is an antibiotic and works by killing the bacteria that cause infections. It contains two different active ingredients, amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin belongs to a group of medicines called "penicillins" that can sometimes become ineffective (inactive) which is prevented by the second active ingredient (clavulanic acid).
